The Arizona Department of Education anticipates federal funds from the Corporation for National and Community Service to promote the development and expansion of Service Learning Programs and encourage Adult Volunteer Programs in Arizona schools (K-12.) Using these funds the Arizona Department of Education will award up to approximately 25 mini grants not to exceed $10,000 each to schools to support the development and expansion of Service Learning Programs. In addition ADE will award up to approximately 10 mini grants not to exceed $5,000 each to schools for the development and expansion of Adult Volunteer Programs in the school.

Who Can Apply?

Any Arizona public school administration, department, teacher or cluster of teachers K-12 may submit a proposal. The application must have an official authorized signature from school district upon submission. The proposal must be for the development of a new Service Learning Program or the development of an Adult Volunteer Program in the school or the expansion of an existing program in either of these areas.

How to Apply

Complete the attached form and return to the Arizona Department of Education by mail or fax. A Funding Book will promptly be mailed to you with specific information and guidelines for developing your proposal. All completed proposals must be received at the Arizona Department of Education by 5:00 p.m., July 25, 2008. Proposals will be evaluated and grants will be awarded on a competitive basis. The checklist of criteria used to evaluate the proposals is included in the Funding Book.

Availability of funds is contingent upon the Arizona Department of Education receiving a grant award from The Corporation for National and Community Service.
